The financials of telecom majors BTVL, Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL), Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited (TTML) and Reliance Infocomm for the third quarter ended December 31, 2004 are out. While VSNL reported a 21.33 per cent drop in its net profits at Rs 1.42 billion for the quarter over the corresponding quarter of the previous year, its net sales rose 6.9 per cent to Rs 8.27 billion. Bharti posted a 131 per cent growth in its consolidated net profit at Rs 3.73 billion over the same period last year. The consolidated revenues for the quarter touched Rs 21.53 billion, a growth of 70 per cent. Meanwhile, Reliance Infocomm's revenues have seen a 58 per cent year-on-year growth and now stand at Rs 14.15 billion. The company has lower loss figures at Rs 60 million against Rs 1.11 billion in the third quarter of the previous year. TTML reported a net loss of Rs 1.5 billion in the quarter, compared with a net loss of Rs 694 million during this period in the previous year. Net sales rose to Rs 1.91 billion from Rs 1.63 billion.
